Located 496 m. above sea level, on the cliffs of the Sierra de Irta overlooking the Mediterranean. This position is the result of a careful study of the surrounding geography, commanding distant views for protection, as on clear days one can even see north to the Ebro River Delta.

It was built to warn the population against attacks from Barbary and Turkish pirates. It is round, measuring 5.5 m in diameter and 8.5 in height. The ground floor housed the stables, with living quarters above for the watchmen and guards. The upper doorway, reached by a ladder, was protected by a cantilever.
